Soapbox was my proposed identity for the Manchester School of Art Graphic Design Degree Show 2021. The identity is based around the concept of a soapbox, when a public speaker uses an upturned box as a makeshift stand. The idea was to give students their own platform to elevate their voices, to promote themselves and their work, and to have an opportunity to discuss issues that are important to them. The show would have been predominantly digital, with a physcial show being uncertain due to coronavirus. The identity uses graffiti as a nod to activism and rebellion, embodying the attitudes of the art school. The CMYK colour palette references the printing processes which are such a vital tool in allowing designers to spread their messages; the box logo references both shipping crates and the Photoshop frame tool.
